MIFWA Carer Support: Carers Retreat

Nathanael’s Rest in Mundaring was just the right spot for our short break away for carers.

Carers arrived from 2pm on Friday 3rd May and settled into the comfortable accommodations.

From May 3rd to Sunday 5th, Nathanael’s Rest provided an idyllic retreat for nine dedicated carers. This short break aimed to offer a respite from their daily responsibilities, allowing them to recharge in a peaceful, supportive environment.

A delightful meal at the Mundaring Hotel marked the second night of our retreat.

Many carers shared that this was the first time in years they could enjoy a meal without responsibilities, making the experience particularly meaningful. Carers engaged in a creative workshop where they crafted beautiful art pieces. This activity allowed them to get their hands dirty and express their creativity, resulting in artwork they could share with family and friends.

Carers had free time to explore the surroundings, take a nature walk, or simply rest and enjoy the tranquillity.

Our evening in had us playing bingo and a small raffle. With the wood fire heating and relaxing us made our nights calm and relaxing.

Carers took to lazy mornings sitting in the sun drinking tea and sharing their journey with carers and new friends.

The serene environment and wood fire contributed significantly to the retreat’s success, creating a peaceful and comfortable setting.

Our last lunch was at the Malmalling Vineyard at the classic boutique winery located in Parkerville, Perth Hills. Very peaceful location, with kangaroos sitting around, and us eating delicious platters.

We ended our retreat with reflection and a guided meditation provided by our special volunteer Ron Deng. Thanks Ron.
