MIFWA’s Participation in Privacy Awareness Week 2024

Privacy Awareness Week (PAW) is an annual national event held in Australia from May 6th to May 12th, led by the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC). MIFWA actively participates in this important initiative to promote privacy awareness and protection.

PAW week is an opportunity to highlight the importance of safeguarding personal information and empowering individuals to understand their privacy rights. It aims to educate organisations like us and the public on best practices for managing and securing personal/sensitive data.

As an organisation that handles a significant amount of personal and sensitive information, MIFWA sees PAW week as an integral part of its commitment to privacy and data protection. During this week, MIFWA will provide information and resources on privacy-related topics to create better awareness of privacy rights.

Some of the key activities that can be expected from MIFWA during PAW week include:

Privacy Awareness activities

  1. MIFWA will be running social media posts;
  2. Have privacy posters up in our offices; and
  3. Providing daily information via email and SWAG to upskill on what the right to privacy means.

MIFWA will continue to reach out to privacy experts, such as the OAIC and other relevant organisations, to learn from their expertise and explore opportunities for collaboration during PAW week. This will help MIFWA to stay up to date with the latest privacy trends and best practices.

By actively participating in Privacy Awareness Week, MIFWA demonstrates its commitment to protecting the privacy and personal information of its consumers, staff, and the wider community. This aligns with MIFWA’s core values and helps to build trust and confidence in MIFWA’s service.
