Safe Transport at MIFWA – Easy Read

What is this page?

This page explains:

  • when transport may be provided
  • how we help keep people safe
  • what happens if there are transport risks
  • what you can do to help keep transport safe
  • who to contact if you have questions

When can transport happen?

Transport may be provided when it is part of your agreed support or service.

Transport must be planned and safe.

How do we keep transport safe?

We take steps to help keep everyone safe during transport.

We:

  • check that transport is suitable
  • consider any risks before a trip
  • make sure vehicles are safe and suitable
  • protect your information while travelling
  • follow safety procedures when needed

What if there are transport risks?

Sometimes we may identify risks before or during transport.

If this happens, we may:

  • complete or review a risk assessment
  • arrange additional support for some trips
  • discuss different transport options
  • decide that transport cannot go ahead if the risk is too high

If we cannot provide transport, we will try to talk with you about other safe options.

What can you do to help?

You can help keep transport safe by:

  • wearing a seatbelt when one is available
  • following reasonable safety instructions
  • telling a worker if you feel unwell, distressed or unsafe
  • treating other people with respect during transport

Your safety matters

Your safety is important to us.

If there are concerns about safety, we may need to review transport arrangements before a trip can continue.

This helps us keep everyone safe.
