Mental Health & Sustainability:
Our Integrated Approach

We’re excited to share our new Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) Strategy, representing a significant milestone in our commitment to responsible and sustainable practices that support both our community and our mission.

This strategy will guide our decision-making as we strengthen our operations and work toward our vision of enhancing wellbeing for the communities we serve and the people who make our work possible.

Developing Our ESG Priorities

In late 2024, we engaged with internal and external stakeholders through a comprehensive Double Materiality assessment to identify the most critical areas for MIFWA to address across environmental, social, and governance considerations.

Our stakeholders evaluated both the impact of external factors on MIFWA and how our organisation influences the broader world. This dual perspective helped us understand where we can make the most meaningful difference.

The insights from this assessment have shaped our strategy around 6 core goals and 10 strategic focus areas. These elements are now being woven into all aspects of our operations and service delivery.

Through this integrated approach, we’re building lasting value for the people we support and our team members while contributing meaningfully to the mental health sector’s future.

Our ESG Strategy in Action

Protecting Your Privacy

Safeguarding sensitive information is fundamental to our wellbeing-focused approach. We implement security measures that exceed standard compliance requirements because privacy protection is essential to person-led, recovery-focused care.

Championing Diversity, Equity and Inclusion

Mental health affects everyone, and our services reflect this reality. We ensure accessibility regardless of background, identity, or personal circumstances, recognising that diverse perspectives strengthen mental health recovery outcomes.

Environmental Stewardship

Understanding the vital link between environmental and mental health, we’re actively working to measure and reduce our environmental impact. This positions us as a leader in the sector while preparing for evolving reporting expectations.

Supporting Indigenous Communities

We recognise the distinct mental health experiences of Indigenous peoples and are committed to culturally safe practices that reduce barriers to care. We seek authentic partnerships with Indigenous communities that honour healing traditions and support reconciliation.

Ethical Leadership

Our robust ethical framework and governance structures ensure we can deliver on our mission with integrity. These foundations support our social license to operate and maintain community trust.

Purpose-Driven Values

Our refreshed organisational values, developed through recent stakeholder engagement, guide our daily decisions and future direction.
